Training Overview Description

Many Behavioral Health practitioners struggle with the tension between interventions that have been mandated by funding agencies (Empirically Supported Treatments) and interventions they perceive to be more appropriate for their clients. ESTs have often been developed in settings that differ widely from those found in Alaska.

This training will outline what determines Culturally Appropriate Best Practices for a variety of populations, especially Alaska Native cultures. Common ethical dilemmas faced by providers in Alaska will be discussed. Participants will be provided with list of useful resources. AKTC is an approved CE provider for State of Alaska LPC Board of Examiners and ACBHC; approved by the State of Alaska Board of Social Work Examiners as Cross Cultural: Alaska Native Specific OR Ethics CE contact hours; and meets LMFT CE criteria.
