Training Overview Description

This 12–hour distance delivered course provides an overview of Customized Employment and the Discovery process, an alternative to traditional comparative vocational assessment procedures. Customized Employment is to assist individuals with significant disabilities to obtain competitive, integrated employment.

Participants will learn how to complete the discovery process and develop a vocational profile and a person-centered employment plan. Case studies for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Serious Psychiatric Disabilities are provided. Participants will explore job development strategies based on the vocational profile.

This course meets DVR requirements to become a vendor of Customized Employment and Discovery services. You must be a CRP with DVR, have completed the NCES course or taken the ACRE certification in order to take this course.

The cost of this training will increase in the future as the current offering is supported through generous grant funding by the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and UAA Center for Human Development funders.
