This 12–hour distance delivered course provides an overview of Customized Employment and the Discovery process, an alternative to traditional comparative vocational assessment procedures. Customized Employment is to assist individuals with significant disabilities to obtain competitive, integrated employment.
Participants will learn how to complete the discovery process and develop a vocational profile and a person-centered employment plan. Case studies for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Serious Psychiatric Disabilities are provided. Participants will explore job development strategies based on the vocational profile.
This course meets minimum training requirements for CRPs to provide Customized Employment and Discovery services for DVR.
The cost of this training is offered at the advertised rate at a discount through generous funding from the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and UAA Center for Human Development funding partners.
