Training Overview Description

Nationally certified trainer and Tsimshian Elder, Doug Modig, will provide an overview of the nationally recognized (NREPP), evidence based program called Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT). MRT is a cognitive-behavioral treatment system that has documented success in serving people with substance use disorders, people involved with the criminal justice system, and people experiencing some other behavioral health challenges. MRT has been recognized specifically as an effective treatment in Alaska. This overview is being provided for the purpose of familiarizing providers who may not know about the protocols and benefits of MRT, who may work collaboratively with clients or family members being served by MRT, and to advance workforce knowledge of evidence based practices that have been demonstrated to be culturally responsive in Alaska. A full 32-hour MRT training for certification will be offered later in the spring. AKTC is an approved CE provider for State of Alaska LPC Board of Examiners and ACBHC; application has been submitted to the State of Alaska Board of Social Work Examiners and is pending for approval of Social Work, Cross Cultural: Alaska Native Specific CEs; and meets LMFT CE criteria.
